If there is anything that might guarantee a measure of pre-mass production hype for a product, it is where prospective customers can actually put it through its paces, and it looks like this is just the sort of tactic Lenovo chose for the IdeaPad U300 Ultrabook.

If anything can be said about ultrabooks, it is that analysts, at least, definitely see them as game changers, despite the rather high price points.

The fact that they are fully-featured notebooks with frame thinner than that of the regular tablet probably has something to do with it.

One of the items of this type that users may or may not know of is the Lenovo IdeaPad U300, which we actually got a close look at during IFA 2011.

Apparently, this very device acted as the main attraction on September 8 (2011), at the Lenovo Connections Lounge during Fashion’s Night Out (FNO).

There, the company let many attendees experiment with it and even handed out some of them to a few lucky people.

“The silhouette of the IdeaPad U300s reminds me of an artist sketch book. It’s slim and light yet powerful, making it ideal for working on my latest Panda-inspired graphics and capturing inspirations wherever I go,” said Gao Yu.

“My custom design sleeve for the IdeaPad U300s Ultrabook gave me an opportunity to explore the relationships between human emotion and materialism using popular Western and Chinese symbolisms for love and fortune.”

Those who want to get a reminder as to what the laptop is made of, besides the 13.3-inch LCD and the Core i7 central processing unit, need only visit the aforementioned hands-on article.

“The Lenovo brand embodies superior design, similar to the high-end fashion industry,” said Tracey Trachta, vice president, Consumer Marketing, Lenovo.

“We weave quality and ingenuity into every PC just like the talented artists showcasing their clothing lines at Lincoln Center. Working with Fashion’s Night Out provided the perfect platform to bring the Lenovo experience to life, which bridges the best in technology with high style and great design.”
