Lenovo is a company popular mostly for its laptops and
PCs, but many of you are probably not aware that it also manufactures mobile phones. It's true that success in this field has been quite limited, but things are now seemingly starting to move in the right direction.
This comes after Lenovo, which operates on the Chinese market – another aspect you may not have known –, sold its cell phone business and its brand to a company named
Hony Capital. This company is now trying to make a profit off the P80, a fairly interesting device.
The main thing you notice about this phone is that it comes in so many colors – seven, to be more precise. However, the color novel factor does not stop there, as this phone also comes in various other color combos, too many to name them all here. Also, it has a, some would say, pretty elegant flip shape, while it is very slim, one of most important aspects relating to design, as well as a plus for many users.
Next, focusing on the technical features, know that the
P80 is a dual-band GSM phone, which, unfortunately, does not support 3G connectivity. With all that, this is hardly something to fret about considering that it is the first device released after Lenovo's takeover.
Other features include a 2.8'' TFT display, which is more than a reasonably sized one, and an external 1-inch OLED display to make things more interesting. Moreover, it comes equipped with an FM radio, Bluetooth support, CIF video capabilities and a not so satisfactory 3 Megapixel camera. Nonetheless, at first sight, it seems like a device worth considering, all that remains to be seen being whether Hony will have more success on the
Chinese market with such mobiles.
This
Lenovo hasn't yet received any pricing or a release date, but given the period of the year, it is most likely to appear sometime before the winter celebrations officially kick off.
