The fourth quarter of Lenovo's fiscal year 2012 ended on March 31 and the company has finally finished tallying its sales and purchases.

Lenovo is famous for being the fastest-growing PC supplier worldwide, and the results published a short time ago definitely give credence to that reputation.

Through strong laptop, TV and desktop sales, the company succeeded in accumulating $7.5 billion, 54% more than in the last quarter of FY 2011. That's 5.91 billion Euro.

What's more, after deducting manufacturing, shipping and other expenses, gross profit ended up at $806 million, 34% year-over-year (635.84 million Euro).

The full-year pre-tax income ended up at $582 million, 63% more over the previous year (459.13 million Euro).

As for full-year total sales, they were of $29.6 billion, or 23.35 billion Euro, give or take.

“Lenovo's global PC shipments grew by 35% year-over-year, outperforming the industry by ten times, global market share increased by three percentage points, and net profit jumped by 73% year-over year,” said Yang Yuanqing, Lenovo chairman and CEO.

“During the fourth fiscal quarter, Lenovo was the fastest growing among the top PC vendors in Global Emerging Markets, and Commercial Markets, as well as Consumer Markets and Mature Markets, where for the first-time ever, we reached double-digit market share in both. We furthered our leadership position in the Global Emerging Markets, in which Lenovo already achieved double digit-market share in 15 markets and became number one in India.”

Lenovo's success makes a stark contrast with NVIDIA's 47.9% drop in profits and Panasonic's $9.7 billion record loss. Sharp lost a lot as well, $1.4b / 1.05b Euro, and even AMD's quarterly finances slid down. Considering all this, seeing Lenovo succeed in its goal of leading the “PC+ era” doesn't seem so far-fetched.

“With the emergence of multiple devices such as smartphones, tablets and smart TV, our industry is entering the PC + era. Lenovo is focused on leading the PC industry, and building upon that leadership in the PC+ era.”
