Lenovo just finished producing the latest Tablet PC in its series, codenamed Thinkpad X60. Weighing only 3.8 lbs, this latest offer from Lenovo is probably the lightest among its competitors.

"The Lenovo ThinkPad X60 Tablet PC marries the best aspects of notebooks and pen-based devices. With new screen options, hardware capabilities and an improved sensory experience interacting with the Tablet, the new Lenovo ThinkPad X60 Tablet is packed with the innovation our customers want," said Peter Hortensius, senior vice president, Notebook Business Unit, Lenovo, when talking about the X60 line.

The X60 uses a 12.1? LCD with 2 resolutions available, 1024x768 (XGA) and 1400x1050 (SXGA+) since the screen can be viewed horizontally or vertically according to the position it has. It can incorporate CPUs from LV and ULV series made by INTEL with one or two cores. Memory banks can accommodate 4GB if needed and a 120GB hard drive is the largest you can buy.

Among other features, the X60 has WWAN and EV-DO wireless capabilities and for security reasons, it integrates a fingerprint reader. Power options include 2 batteries, one with 4 cells and the other with 8 cells. An 8 cell battery powered X80 paired with an ULV Core Solo can reach a standby time of 7 hours or so.

The X60 Tablet PC will begin shipping in late December 2006 and will have a price tag of $1,799.
