Not too long a time after Lenovo expanded its ThinkPad T-Series with Intel Core i3 models, the company has come out and revealed that it is releasing two new notebook PCs. Known as the G455 and G555, the new mobile computers are powered by dual-core central processing units developed by Advanced Micro Devices and combine this performance with Lenovo software, so that the laptops may boast an added efficiency, as well as backup and repair capabilities.

The Two laptops are based on AMD Turion II Dual-Core processors and the ATI Radeon HD integrated graphics. These components provide support for Windows 7, DirectX 10 graphics, smooth HD video playback and even more advanced capabilities, such as Aero Flip and Aero Peak. This high performance is complemented by the power-saving features included in the Lenovo Energy Management 5.0.

This utility enables end-users to choose between several energy-saving modes, for extending the battery life and protecting the battery's durability by preventing unnecessary recharges. In addition, the laptops come with the VeriFace facial-recognition software and the OneKey Rescue System, which is a “one-touch backup, repair and recovery tool.”

“Our new G series notebooks [...] are designed for users who want a simple but powerful computing experience without any headaches,” Dion Weisler, vice president, Business Operations, Lenovo, said. “By working closely with AMD engineers and leveraging AMD advanced technologies, we have created products that offer superior performance in the areas of graphics and power efficiency at an affordable price point.”

“These innovative Lenovo notebooks […] are prime examples of how VISION Technology from AMD helps our key partners design compelling consumer products,” Rick Bergman, senior vice president and general manager, AMD Products Group, added. “The expanded technology partnership with Lenovo demonstrates our commitment to deliver solutions that meet the evolving needs of the mainstream consumer market.”

The laptops will enter availability in March and will have a starting price of $449.
