Back in January at CES 2015, ASUS announced the ZenFone 2, which was the first phone to arrive with 4GB of RAM. Fast forward a few months and the device has been made available for purchase in several markets around the world, for quite an affordable price tag.

Not long after ASUS made public its announcement, another phone manufacturer, this time Xiaomi, made similar headlines with its Mi Note Pro model which also sported 4GB of RAM on board. The handset is not yet available for purchase even after so many months since release, but the company announced the device would finally be offered starting May 6.

And now, Lenovo seems to be yet another device maker looking to jump into the 4GB of RAM bandwagon with a product of its own.

Meet the Lenovo K80

Its latest product, the Lenovo K80, is already available for purchase in select markets including China (as seen at CNMO).

The new handset will compete head to head with the ASUS ZenFone 2 not only because it has 4GB of RAM fueling its entrails but also because it has pretty similar specifications.

The K80 comes with a 5.5-inch 1080p display (1920 x 1080 pixel resolution) and draws life from a 64-bit Intel Atom processor clocked at 1.8GHz. Other specs include LTE, a 13MP main camera with Optical Image Stabilization, and 64GB of internal storage.

The phone is also sustained by a hefty 4,000 mAh battery pumping life into it. Yesterday, we told you Lenovo had quietly rolled out a new mid-rage smartphone called the A5000, which benefits from the same battery capacity. With a 720p display on board, the phone was said to be able to achieve up to 17 hours of talk time and 792 hours of standby on 3G networks.

Going back to the Lenovo K80, the phone will be available in diverse color versions including black, silver and red. The producing company will be offering it starting April 30 in China for $290 / €267 a pop (we’re talking about the 4GB model), which is on par with the ASUS ZenFone’s price.

Lenovo will also market a variant of the phone with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage on board which will cost interested parties around $240 / €221.
