After a large number of users have complained about bricking their ThinkPad Tablets after installing a battery firmware update released previously by the company, Lenovo has now issued a fix for these problems.

The fix was announced by a member of the Lenovo staff on the company's forums and is actually pretty simple as the issues seem to have been caused by third party USB cables.

Users who have bricked their device after the initial update can recover by restarting the tablet using a pin to hold the Reset Button between the SD card and SIM card slots for about 20 seconds.

After recovering the system, the firmware update can be completed, but Lenovo warns ThinkPad Tablet owners to use the original USB cable and power adapter supplied with the device.

Lenovo has stopped the over-the-air update and are working on messaging this information in the update.
