Lenovo announced the launch of a new breed of LCD widescreen computer monitors, the first and only products that support the newly introduced WUXGA resolution standard which is the short for ''Widescreen Ultra eXtended Graphics Array''.

The new Lenovo monitor is available under the commercial designation L220x and it comes with a native resolution of 1900x1200 and a widescreen
ratio of 16:10 and thanks to its 22 inch display size, it provides enough desktop space in order to display two full-size pages side by side. Lenovo created this high-end monitor with advanced features like the 103 pixels per dot and an active rotation sensor that automatically adjusts the image orientation from portrait to landscape according to the screen position.

Apart from being the first WUXGA commercially available monitor, the Lenovo L220x also comes with integrated support for high definition 1080p video playback while its 22-inch screen size places it at the very top of the desktop display spectrum, according to the news site slashgear.

While not the most stylish widescreen computer monitor out there, the new Lenovo L220x is not unaesthetic either, and it also comes with four high speed USB 2.0 ports allowing it to act as a USB hub too. On the technical specifications side, it features a 6ms response time and a 300cd/m2 brightness level as well as a typical contrast ratio of 1000:1. wide horizontal and vertical viewing angles of 178 degrees allow users a greater measure of comfort and its multi function capable stand that supports tilt, swivel, lift and pivot operations will allow users to position the LCD monitor just as they please.

On the connectivity side, the Lenovo L220x widescreen computer monitor comes with long cables for both analog and digital signal transmission as well as long USB and power cables. The Lenovo L220x will be available starting from November 2007 and it will come with a price tag of $550 and as it is a very versatile piece of computer hardware and affordable at the same time it is very likely to become very popular among the digital content creators as it also supports up to 92 percent of the color gamut of a typical CRT monitor.
