The Android 4.1.1 software release reached the Tegra 3 tablet

Just like Sony is upgrading the Xperia Tablet 2 a little bit, Lenovo is delivering a software upgrade to the IdeaTab A2109 model.

Lenovo isn't doing anything minor though. The company is moving from Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich to Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean.

Only American users have confirmed the OTA download so far (over-the-air).

It is odd that Lenovo, a company based in China, would start things off with an automatic update process only in the US, so the rest of the world is probably getting served too. Maybe owners just haven’t got around to talking about it online yet.

In any event, no one will be left in the dust. Lenovo has the ZIP archive of the operating system on its server, so owners of the slate can get it and flash it manually.

400 MB of free space will be needed in either case.
