Since CES 2011 is just a few days away, it is no surprise that companies are flooding the market with new product announcements, and Lenovo presented quite a number of laptops, one of the series being known as IdeaPad Z.

Intel's Sandy Bridge collection of new central processing units was released a little while ago and has already been said to have scored over 500 design wins. Being a fairly high number, it was obvious that PC makers would soon start to announce their various systems.

Sure enough, Lenovo issued a press release detailing no less than five new sets of mobile computers, one of them being IdeaPad Z.

There are three distinct models, bearing the names of Z370, Z470 and Z570, respectively, their specifications raising along with the number that makes up their names.

Part of the hardware is the same in all three, like the use of a second generation Intel Core i7 central processing unit.

Said CPU is backed up by up to 8 GB of DDR3 RAM (random access memory) and paired with an NVIDIA GeForce discrete graphics card.

That said, the Z370 has a 13.3-inch LCD (liquid crystal display) and the GeForce 410M GPU, while the 14-inch Z470 and 15.6-inch Z570 boast the GeForce 525M 2GB DirectX 11-capable GPU.

The press release goes ahead and mentions the existence of a Blu-ray drive, a 5-in-1 card reader, three USB ports, 802.11a/g/n WiFi, optional bluetooth, VGA, HDMI and a webcam on all three newcomers.

All in all, the Lenovo IdeaPad Z Series is “designed for consumers who desire a PC with features that can keep up with their exciting lifestyle.”

No doubt the Dolby Advanced Audio and OneKey Theater II (one-touch audio-visual optimization) technologies help in that regard.

Unfortunately, the announcement did not have any pricing and availability information.
