When you think gaming notebooks, your mind probably jumps to companies like Origin, CyberPOWER, Eurocom, MSI, ASUS, Razer or Dell.

Lenovo might be the colossus of notebook vendors, but the gaming ecosystem is pretty much uncharted territory for the company. Anyway, back at CES the device maker launched the IdeaPad Y40 and Y50 gaming system, in an attempt to make an impact on the market.

Well, it appears Lenovo has another sleek gaming system in the pipeline, going by the name of IdeaPad Y70. Like the name suggests, the system will probably arrive with a larger form factor, boasting a 17-inch Full HD IPS panel.

The folks at Notebook Italia have spotted the device in a webshop overseas, so we can tell you most of the specification of Lenovo’s new powerhouse.

As we told you, the Y70 will take advantage of a mutitouch panel of the IPS variety coming with a matte finish and Full HD display (since the Y50 offers an UltraHD option, we could argue this is the case for the Y70).

Anyway, under the hood lies an Intel Core i5-4210H clocked at 2.9GHz, but those who want more can go for the more powerful i7-4710HQ clocked at 2.7GHz. The lappy is fitted with either 8GB / 16GB of RAM.

As usual, when it comes to potent systems, there are a few storage solutions available, like a traditional hard drive of 1TB, while the second brings into the picture a solid state drive of 512GB.

In the GPU department, Lenovo will be adding an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M graphics card, the same as we have seen with the IdeaPad Y50.

Other selling points of the new Y70 include there USB ports (one of the 2.0 variety), HDMI, VGA output, memory card reader, JBL audio system with a woofer located at the bottom, HD webcam, Gigabit Ethernet LAN, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0.

Overall, the laptop weighs about 3.4 Kgs / 7.49 lbs, so it’s not the sleekest or lightest in the bunch, but given that this is a gaming system, we shouldn't judge it too harshly.

The retail listing offers a glimpse into the pricing department as well. The 8GB of RAM model will be sold in Europe for about €1,183 / $1,559 while the 16GB version will take customers back with €1,499 / $1,976.

However, the US pricing might turn out to be a little lower. Anyway, expect Lenovo to bring the new gaming system and put it on display at IFA 2014. We’re surely going to keep an eye out for it.
