Lenovo keeps expanding its notebook lineup with new models, the latest offering to be added by the company to its Website being the IdeaPad Y470p 14-inch laptop which despite its compact size features a top of the line configuration.

Housed in a case less than one inch thick, the Y470p packs a quad-core Intel Sandy Bridge processor, namely the 2.2GHz Core i7-2670QM, that is seconded by 8GB of system memory.

The standard configuration listed on Lenovo’s website also sports a 750GB hard drive, with a spindle speed of 5,400RPM, as well as a dual-layer DVD burner.

On the graphics side of things, the HD 3000 GPU integrated inside Intel’s processor is paired together with an AMD Radeon HD 7690 discrete video card featuring 1GB of buffer memory.

The rest of the specifications list is pretty much standard for this type of notebook design, with features ranging from a built-in 2MP webcam and HDMI output to Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity.

A rather interesting addition is the support for USB 3.0, Lenovo including two such ports in the IdeaPad Y470p, to accompany the two other USB 2.0 connectors (one comes as an USB/eSATA hybrid) and the multi-format card reader available.

Together with the included 6-cell battery pack, the IdeaPad Y470p weights 2.2Kg (4.85 pounds) and can provide up to 4 hours of autonomy, which is a bit on the low side if you ask us. The 14-inch screen has a resolution of 1366×768.

The notebook is available right now for pre-order from Lenovo’s website, for just $799.00 (about 605 EUR), after using the WKLYDEALSY470P promo code.

The sale will end on February 1st, and shipping is expected to commence on February 13th, according to Lenovo’s website.
