Lenovo may be working on a certain ultrabook of its own, but it has other projects as well, such as a certain notebook PC that was just spotted on display, albeit just in prototype form.

Ultrabooks really have started to show up left and right, even if most, if not all, of them aren't going to start selling for a while yet.

Lenovo itself is known to be working on this type of super-thin mobile personal computer, named U300 by market watchers.

With companies like Toshiba now unveiling such laptops, it would make sense for Lenovo to also make a formal announcement of some sort.

Turns out that the company did, indeed, move in the laptop field, only it didn't bring out the U300.

Instead, the outfit revealed what is, just the same, a very thin laptop, thin enough, in fact, that it got compared to the Apple MacBook Pro.

It is known as IdeaPad U400 and has a hardware configuration centered around the Intel Core i3-2330M central processing unit, whose frequency is 2.2 GHz.

2 GB of DDR3 memory are present, as is an AMD Radeon graphics solution, though there are other options as well.

For instance, an Intel Core i7-2620M chip can be used instead (featuring a clock frequency of 2.7 GHz), while 4 GB of RAM and the AMD Radeon HD 6470M graphics (1 GB VRAM) complement it.

Meanwhile, storage space is brought to the equation by a hard disk drive, whose capacity is 500 GB.

As for design, one will spot a large palm rest on the aluminum chassis, spacious multi-touch touchpad, a chiclet keyboard and a 14-inch display.

Other specifications include a slot-in optical unit, USB 2.0 (two ports), HDMI, LAN, USB 3.0 (one port), a system recovery button and Windows 7 Home Premium, among other things.

Lenovo's product is offered exclusively in a bundle with the $99.30 (per month) StarHub MaxInfinity Ultimate 100Mbps fiber home broadband plan. It is priced at $1,899, though it has the higher end specs instead of those of the unit that VR-Zone got to play with.
