It appears that the Indian market is experiencing increased demand for ultraportable convertible computers, so taking notice of the trend, Lenovo has launched the IdeaPad Flex 10 this week.

The device was introduced on the international market back in November, with the Flex 10 being the Windows-based version of the IdeaPad A10 notebook. The two models are actually identical in their specifications, except that the latter runs Android out of the box, making it a pretty atypical offering, WPCentral reports.

National Product Head of Consumer Products for Lenovo India, Amit Chatrath introduced the IdeaPad Flex 10.

“We are witnessing a growing demand for ultraportable convertibles notebooks especially in the affordable price band that makes this category attractive to all the PC buyers.”

Anyway, the Flex 10 comes with a 10.1-inch screen (1366 x 768 pixel resolution) and is advertised as a dual-mode mini notebook, which means that users will be able to use the device as a laptop but will also be capable of rotating the screen to face away from the keyboard in case they want to watch a movie or display a presentation.

The Windows-based Flex 10 is pretty lightweight at 1.2 kg / 2.64 lbs and is only 17.3mm / 0.68 inches thick. The machine receives its power from an Intel quad-core Pentium N3510 processor and is fitted with integrated graphics and 500GB of storage.

Other features include the Lenovo VeriFace Pro, which is a system that allows users to log in to the machine and keeps sensitive information safe. Lenovo has also added stereo speakers, a 720p HD webcam for video chats, and AccuType keyboard with individual rounded keys, so that users can comfortably type away.

As for connectivity options, users will find onboard integrated Bluetooth 4.02, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, USB 2.0, USB 3.0 and HDMI out port.

A down point with this particular model is that the Flex 10 will only provide users with 4 hours of life, which isn’t really much. So albeit being an ultraportable, users will have to carry around the charger with them if they want to use the laptop extensively.

The notebook has been equipped with Lenovo’s Energy Manager software that is supposed to protect the long-term durability of the battery and help the device save energy, but four hours still doesn't amount to much.

Anyway, if you still think the Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 10 is a good idea for you, you should know that pricing starts at Rs. 25,990 / $432 / €313. You can pick one of these babies up from every major retail store across the country.
