Lenovo's affordable 7-inch tablet IdeaPad A1 has just been introduced and is now available for purchase via manufacturer's webstore.

Two versions of the tablet are now available for order, a 2GB model that can be purchased for $199 (about 150 EUR) and the 16GB variant priced at $249 (roughly 185 EUR).

It appears that Lenovo decided to slash $100 off the price of both models to make them more attractive for those who cannot afford to purchase a Honeycomb tablet.

Currently, the tablet is on sale only on Lenovo's site, but more authorized retailers may carry the device in the near future.

It is also worth mentioning that the IdeaPad A1 is available in four color schemes: Black, White, Pink and Blue.

Lenovo IdeaPad A1 is powered by Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, but a Honeycomb upgrade may be in the works.

However, the manufacturer did not reveal any plans for an Android 3.0 Honeycomb upgrade for IdeaPad A1, which may leave users stuck on Gingerbread.

Furthermore, the tablet is equipped with a single core 1GHz Texas Instruments OMAP 3622 processor and packs 512 MB of RAM and 2GB/16GB of internal memory.

According to Lenovo, the affordable Android-based tablet is “a compact yet rugged multimedia device that runs on the Android 2.3 operating system and is optimized for entertainment.”

The slate comes with a 7.0-inch SD LED Glare multi-touchscreen display with 16 million colors support and 1024 x 600 pixels resolution, which provides users with brilliant graphics.

The tablet sports a 5-megapixel camera on the back, as well as a secondary 2.0-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls.

Connectivity options are well covered via WiFi, Bluetooth and 3G (where available). In addition, the IdeaPad Tablet A1 is equipped with unique offline GPS navigation technology, allowing for direct satellite links that do not require network availability.
