Lenovo is making a whole host of budget friendly laptops available this summer

Last weekend we told you Lenovo took the opportunity to provide us with the full specifications for the two of its budget multimedia notebooks which it introduced a few months before, the Z40 and Z50.

Anyway, the company is taking the opportunity to refresh its Flex 2 dual-mode laptops, by upgrading the original models and offering customers the choice between the 14-inch and 15.6-inch form factor. Both hybrids are slated to become available in June, says Ubergizmo.

The characteristic of the Flex models is that they feature 300° hinges that allow users to switch between the traditional way of using the laptop or “laptop mode” and “stand mode” where the display has been turned to face away from the keyboard, a way proved to be more advantageous to use for watching movies or presentations.

The Flex series will bring to the table a full HD widescreen display with a capable 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution and 10-finger multitouch screen, which is an optional feat.

As for processor power, users can either opt to get 4th gen Intel Core i7 processors under the hood, that are going to be fitted with NVIDIA GeForce graphics, or either go for the AMD Radeon R5 M230 discrete graphics and AMD APU processors all the way up the AMD A8 version.

If you’re one of those people who need a lot of storage capacity, then you’ll be pleased to know the Flex 2 notebooks are offered in a variety of configurations, including up to a 1TB traditional hard disk drive or hybrid SSHD storage or up to 256GB SSD storage.

As for battery, Lenovo isn't exactly saying how much the hybrids are expected to last, but it does say the new Flex 2 series offer “longer battery life,” compared to its predecessor we guess. Anyway, we think you shouldn't get your hopes up and should expect a battery life around 4-5 hours.

As we previously said, the new notebooks are going to be available in June, with the smaller model starting at $799 / €578, with the larger one starting at $429 / €310.

In related news, a few days ago I told you about the Lenovo G50 budget laptop, but it turns out the tech manufacturer has another one ready to be served on a silver platter, the 15-inch B50 laptop.

The B50 starts off with a basic HD 1366 x 768 pixels screen, but users can upgrade to an anti-glare touch display with the same resolution or go as far as FHD 1920 x 1080 if they chose to.
