The Lenovo Flex 10 is a budget-friendly laptop that arrives with Intel Bay Trail and a touchscreen display that twists around to let you enjoy an extra mode of use, by virtue of presentation mode.

The device can be acquired for as little $300 / €220, which is an extremely good deal. Anyway, UMPCPortal has found a sneaky way of enhancing the value of this little neat device, by subjecting it to an SSD upgrade.

The problem with the Flex 10 is that it came equipped with a really poor quality hard drive, which really put a damper on things performance-wise.

Performing an SSD upgrade will bring about spectacular differences. For example, applications will start at half the time and the PCMark score has increased up to 70%.

The tutorial for performing this hack is available for you to go through, but before getting started, there are some pre-requisites that need to be taken into consideration.

For starters, those performing the upgrade will be needing a USB recovery drive (that can be set up using Windows 8 tools on a 16GB stick or CDROM).

In the tutorial, an external USB 2.5-inch SATA adapter is used. Also be warned, this will result in you losing the device’s warranty and there’s also a possibility of failure or breakage of the device. If you feel like your device would benefit from this upgrade, follow the steps outlined in the tutorial.
