Lenovo seems quite confident in the success of its U300 Ultrabook as the company expects by the end of Q4 2011 to sell between 200,000 and 300,000 units making it one of the most popular laptops in its category.

Lenovo made public these estimates during the U300’s launch in China, according to a Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN) report cited by DigiTimes.

The IdeaPad U300 is considered by many one of the best Ultrabooks to arrive until now, and was already made available for pre-order in the US with prices starting at $1499 (roughly 1,153 EUR).

For now, Lenovo’s ultra-thin notebook is available in a single configuration that sports a Core i7-2677M processor clocked at 1.8GHz, with a maximum Turbo Boost frequency of 2.9GHz.

The Intel processor is seconded by 4GB of system memory, while storage is provided by a 256GB solid state drive.

For graphics duty, Lenovo has chosen to go for the integrated HD 3000 GPU which is paired together with a 13.3-inch screen with a resolution of 1366x768 pixels.

As far as connectivity is concerned, the IdeaPad U300s features all the usual 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0 and Ethernet options, but also includes an USB 3.0 port and support for Intel's WiDi wireless video streaming technology.

An HDMI output is also included and the rest of the specs sheet includes an external DVD writer, a 1.3-megapixel webcam and a battery pack that can provide up to eight hours of operation without requiring a recharge.

To make the U300s Ultrabook even more enticing for its customers, Lenovo has also added to its latest creation a breathable AccuType keyboard paired together with a stylish glass touchpad featuring easy zoom, scroll and rotate functions.

The first US pre-orders were expected to be shipped on December 19, while Lenovo said the rest would arrive in January of next year.
