Not in the strictest sense, but the moniker probably won't show up anymore

The Ideapad S110 laptops that Lenovo has just revealed has some major implications that may not be apparent at first glance.

As we already covered here, the item is a netbook in all but name.

Lenovo chose to dub it a mini-notebook instead, even though the screen size (10.1 inches) and the rest of the specs clearly placed it in the netbook category.

Basically, Lenovo is trying to distance itself from netbooks, even if it won't actually stop making such compact, low-end PCs.

The entry-level PCs had a good run, but tablets and Ultrabooks are clearly pushing them aside, especially now that keyboard docks are more or less commonplace.

That said, Lenovo's approach to the 'netbook problem' is quite different from that of others, like ASUS, for example.

Whereas the former may be trying to reshape the perception of its product collection, the latter bluntly launched the Eee PC 1225C Cedar Trail netbook just a couple of days ago.
