Lenovo definitely means business, as it has provided the market, or will soon provide it, with quite a few laptops, all of them divided into lineups, one being the IdeaPad Y collection.

As some end-users may know, Intel's newly released Sandy Bridge central processing units have already scored over 500 design wins.

Lenovo is one of the companies that enabled that number, having created a bunch of IdeaPad laptops, like the IdeaPad Z line, or IdeaPad V.

The company did not stop at just those, however, as its press release had information on quite a few more notebooks, some of them making up the IdeaPad Y collection.

The series is composed of three members, them being the IdeaPad Y570d, Y570, Y470 and designed with high performance mobile entertainment in mind.

The Y470 has a display size of 14 inches, while both the Y570 and the Y570d measure 15.6 inches (the resolution is 1,366 x 768 pixels).

“Lenovo's new IdeaPad Y560d, Y470 and Y570 laptops sport high-performance processors and are packed with innovative tools and features that make mobile entertainment more realistic, fun and intuitive,” states the press release.

All three are built around a second generation Intel Core i7 central processing unit and can be configured with various discrete graphics, including NVIDIA's GeForce 555M.

Also, regardless of CPU and GPU, one can choose to outfit the machines with up to 8 GB of DDR3 memory.

The company, in its announcement, went ahead and also mentioned the existence of a hard disk drive, whose capacity can go as high as 1 TB.

Other specifications include a Blu-ray player, Mini-PCIe, a 6-in-1 card reader, HDMI, three USB 2.0 ports, JBL-designed speakers, a 2 megapixel webcam and an optional TV-out, among other things. These, and more, are kept operational by a six-cell battery.

As some may have guessed, the Y570d is different form the Y570 through its support for 3D, being bundled with the obligatory 3D glasses.

Availability is set for May, when sales will start for a base price of $899.99.
