14 DAY TRIAL // The new ThinkPad T61p was launched today by Lenovo. Designated by its producer, a widescreen mobile workstation notebook, T61p is the highest performance notebook available from Lenovo. T61p's highlights are powerful features essential for data-intensive applications and those requiring 3D support. ThinkPad T61p is part of the T series, but it runs cooler, quieter and more energy efficient than previos models. It features a durable cover, full disk encryption, offers Linux certification and Ultra-Wideband technology. Apart from T61p, Lenovo introduced the ThinkPad R61 and the ThinkPad R61e notebooks, as well as discrete graphics solutions in ThinkPad T61 notebooks.
With Lenovo's Ultra Connect II, T61p raises the performance bar as it now has improved support for WWAN and WLAN 802.11n, the new NVIDIA Quadro FX 570M is certified to the open GL standard, Intel Centrino Pro mobile technology and long battery life help users work longer. Because of a new cooling system, T61p runs 10% cooler than previous models and it is also three decibels quieter. To improve security Lenovo installed support for port disablement, 32-byte passwords, integrated fingerprint reader and full disk encryption.
The workstation is certified to run the Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise desktop 10 operating system and also Red Hat and Turbo Linux. Alex Burns, chief operating officer, at AT&T Williams said that "technology is driving racing today in a new way. AT&T Williams relies on Lenovo ThinkPad mobile workstations everyday to power our team, whether it's in the garage or on the track, helping in everything from systems checks before starting the car to monitoring fuel inputs."
Lenovo offers a complete line of energy efficient products that meet the new Environmental Protection Agency's Energy Star 4.0 standard, including the T, R and X series, as well as the 3000 N200 and V200 notebooks. The new notebooks achieve an impressive 70% improvement in efficiency over previous generations, allowing users to save up to 47% more energy. All new Lenovo notebooks are also certified by the Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool that is used to evaluate PC products based on their environmental attributes. Customers who have a previous model of Lenovo's notebook can update their ThinkPad to enable the new power saving standard through a few simple updates available for download via www.lenovo.com.
Not only laptops, but desktops too are designed by Lenovo with superior performance and power efficiency. The ThinkCentre M55 in tower, desktop or small factor improves energy efficiency up to 52 percent over previous versions as it features an 80 percent efficient power supply for lower energy costs and usage and less heat emissions, which help improve the reliability of the power supply, decrease system maintenance and further help extend PC life.
The ThinkPad T61p mobile workstation starts at about $1814, while ThinkPad R61 and R61e notebooks start at $1118 and $1069. All these notebooks will be available for purchase from July.
