This Tuesday, Lenovo officials have announced the availability of their currently highest performing notebook, which is a Linux mobile workstation based on an Intel Centrino Pro processor, called ThinkPad T61p. The notebook is said to support Novell
Suse Linux Enterprise Desktop 10 or Red Hat as well as Turbo Linux operating systems.

- Nvidia FX 570M GPU for graphics
- 32-byte password protection
- integrated fingerprint reader
- full disk encryption for higher security

The price for this ThinkPad T61p is said to start at US$1,814. Lenovo also announced the introduction of two other models, with a price which is very close to that of the ThinkPad T61p. The ThinkPad R61 15-inch standard and the R61e 15-inch widescreen notebooks, as well as the early mentioned T61p, are certified as energy-efficient notebooks, and they are also rated silver by the Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool.

Lenovo makes a variety of products for worldwide sale among which ThinkCentre desktops, Lenovo 3000 J Series desktops, ThinkPad laptops and tablets, Lenovo 3000 C, N and V Series laptops, LCD and CRT monitors and ThinkVision projectors. As of May 1, 2005, 35.2% of Lenovo was owned by public shareholders, 46.9% by Legend Holdings Limited, and 19.9% by IBM. Since the Chinese Academy of Sciences (a Chinese government agency) owns 65% of Legend Holdings, eventually the Chinese government owns at least 30.5% of Lenovo, being the largest shareholder.
