It looks like Lenovo might be keeping an ace up its sleeve, in the form of a portable computer system that is specifically designed to meet the requirements of professional users. Details on a Lenovo ThinkPad notebook have recently surfaced on the Internet, claiming that Lenovo can provide its customers with a dual-display portable system that is based on the company's ThinkPad W700 series mobile workstation.

Said W700ds sports both a 17-inch CCFL-backlit display with a 1920 by 1200 pixel resolution, but also a smaller 10.6-inch LED-backlit panel with a 768 by 1280 resolution. The panel features a portrait orientation and it appears that the PC maker is claiming this as a real productivity booster, providing its users with an extra 39-percent of space. According to available details, this seems to be the only difference between the company's standard ThinkPad W700 mobile workstation and the W700ds model. All other specifications appear to be the same.

Lenovo has certainly built the W700 as a real performance-capable portable computer system, which you will immediately begin to comprehend after taking a closer look at the technical specifications of the system. The W700 is powered by an Intel Core 2 Quad Core Extreme QX 9300 2.53GHz processor, 4GB of Intel Turbo RAM and a user's choice of either a 512MB NVIDIA Quadro FX 2700M or a 1GB NVIDIA Quadro FX 3700M. As for storage, users can choose from a series of options, including RAID arrays of up to 320GB or 200GB HDDs with full-disk encryption, or even a non-RAID dual 64GB SSD.

An extra display on the W700 ThinkPad has certainly left its mark on the specifications of the notebook, taking the weight of the system to 4.96kg, and that is with just one hard-drive. That's an approximately 1kg difference between the standard model and the “ds” version. As for pricing, the W700 ThinkPad could reach the market with a price tag well over $6000.
