Whether fans of the original are cool with the idea or not, a remake of the Arnold Schwarzenegger action film “Total Recall” is in the pipeline. Director Len Wiseman has dished the first details about it.

For the time being, all that is known of the project is that it stars Colin Farrell as the lead, Jessica Biel as the woman who helps him out on his difficult and action-packed mission, and Kate Beckinsale.

Fans will get a first look at the remake no sooner than March 2012, Wiseman says in a brand new interview with Collider.

On the same occasion, he reveals that the director's cut version of the film is already done – and pending approval from the movie studio.

“I've seen it, and it's great,” Wiseman says of the trailer. “I believe it will hit in March. I could be wrong, but I think March,” he adds of the release date.

Understandably, the director doesn't want to give away too many details, but he's definitely not shy to tease.

“I am two days away from turning in my director's cut. I'm actually just doing some finishing touched on it,” he says.

“So, I'm done with that, and the studio takes a look at it fairly soon. So far, it's actually been a very fun process. There's a lot of excitement around it, and I'm very happy with it,” Wiseman adds.

Asked to describe the film, which, it would seem, will differ from the original in certain essential aspects (the Mars storyline has been taken out, word online has it), the director says it's pretty much a play on “fantasy vs. reality.”

“It's got a load of really fun action sequences and visuals, and a whole new world to experience as well, that is really fun, but what makes that all super-engaging is this constant mystery of what world we're existing in, whether it's his fantasy or reality,” he adds.

“Total Recall” will be out in theaters on August 3, 2012 being, at the moment, one of the most anticipated remakes / reboots of the year.
