New games will make more people interested

There are quite a lot of small development studios out there, but one that has been very close to the hearts of many gamers is Team17, which was responsible for the hit franchise Worms. Arriving on a huge variety of platforms, from the PC to the newer Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the series has brought many fans to the studio.

But the company hasn't gained the same amount of fans with its latest release, Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust, which was heavily criticized by players and critics alike. Now, the head of the studio, Martyn Brown, has talked with VideoGamer and has revealed that the title that was published by Codemasters wasn't a very proud project, but it hasn't affected the number of fans the studio has, and they will increase as the upcoming new Worms game and Alien Breed Evolution will appear.

“I'll be open as anything. Larry didn't turn out great,” he said. “There are reasons why it didn't turn out great. I'm not going to rattle on about excuses. It's one of those things. You're only as good as your last game. Hopefully the new Worms on LIVE Arcade, other than a couple of bugs that went unnoticed on, not our testing unit but a testing unit, which we're fixing - I think the Metacritic on that is 84, 85 per cent.”

He revealed that the next new game would be pretty good and you would see the hard work of the team in Alien Breed. “Certainly with Alien Breed, if anybody's got any grumbles about what we can and can't do, they'll see the amount of effort and care put into a product where we're unbridled by any nonsense we had to deal with in the Larry project. Yeah, hands up, it wasn't great. At the end of the day people don't have to buy anything. They go on reviews, they go on demos and everything else. If people make that decision that's unfortunate. It's not something we're worried about.”

While Leisure Suit Larry wasn't the most fortunate of projects coming from Team17, hopefully the new titles, which will be self published by the company as digital downloads on the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, will have a higher degree of quality.
