German optics manufacturer, Leica has made a name for itself for their high-quality cameras and lenses, and it's recognized as a luxury brand all over the world.

The German manufacturer is working with Japanese giant, Panasonic on their first mirrorless camera, according to Mirrorless Rumors.

Leica already has plenty rangefinder camera models either on film (M3 to M7) or digital (M8, M9 or the recently announced M-E), and although the difference is not that big, they don't have an actual mirrorless model.

Trusted sources also revealed that the new Leica mirrorless camera would be launched pretty soon, more likely at the beginning of 2014, right on time for the CP+ Camera and Photo Imaging Show in Japan.

Earlier today we were announcing the collaboration between Leica and the Gagosian Gallery to produce a new limited-edition digital camera called Leica X2 Gagosian Edition.

The camera shares the same features as the Leica X2 model, but comes wrapped in white leather with a unique design inspired by early Expressionism artworks.
