The Leica T Type 701 camera has come up in the rumor mill before, but now I am able to bring you information about what specifications we're going to see with the new model.

Leica has apparently announced that it is holding an important product launch event on April 24 and that’s probably when the Leica T will arrive in the wild, reports LeicaRumors.

The device will come sporting an APS-C image sensor and a new T-mount interchangeable lens system. The German manufacturer will also release a M-mount adapter too.

The Leica T Type 701 has been said to be designed by Audi, while the camera parts are manufactured by Panasonic.

The new camera will come equipped with built-in autofocus, but will be lacking a rangefinder. However, Lecia will release an external electronic viewfinder instead.

There are a few details about what the device will look like, as word on the street has it that the new shooter will be based on an aluminum unibody, while the a “black anodized” version will be made available sometime in the future.

A pair of new lenses are said to arrive with the Leica T Type 701 camera, in the form of the Leica Vario-Elmar ASPH 18-56mm f/3.5-5.6 (35mm equivalent) and the Leica Summicron-T ASPH 23mm f/2 (35mm focal length equivalent of 35mm).

Knowing Leica, the camera won’t come cheap, so expect the model to arrive with a price tag around $3,000 / €2,173.
