Shortly after outing Firmware 2.4.0.0 for Leica S (Type 006) Camera, the producer has also released a new firmware package developed for its S2 and S2-P digital cameras, namely version 1.4.0.0, as well as the LLF018 update for the S-System lenses.

In order to be clear with the changes, the 1.4.0.0 camera firmware adds support for the new Leica Summicron-S 1:2/100mm ASPH lenses, while the LLF018 update improves the overall performance of the suitable lens.

When it comes to compatibility, the LLF018 firmware applies to Leica’s Super-Elmar-S, Elmarit-S, Vario-Elmar-S, Summarit-S, Summicron-S, Apo-Macro-Summarit-S, and Apo-Elmar-S lens series (to view specific models check out the description page of the lens firmware download).

As for installing these updates, the camera firmware release can be installed in the same way as the update for Leica S (Type 006). However, the S2 device requires you to press and hold the AF / AE lock button in order to enter update mode and initiate the upgrade.

In order to apply the lens update, first make sure that the currently installed firmware isn’t either newer or matching this release. Afterwards, save the downloadable .llf file onto a formatted SD or CF card, insert it into the camera, and press and hold the AF / AE lock button to initiate the upgrade.

With this in mind, from the links below, follow the one that best describes the file you need, save it on your computer, and use it to update the firmware version on the proper device.
