The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, the remake of the classic Nintendo 64 title for the new 3DS portable device, has just received a release date and a batch of screenshots.

Nintendo is making sure that people are excited for the 3DS ahead of its launch later this month, and has just dropped more details about one of its biggest games, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D.

The classic and massively popular Nintendo 64 game is being reworked for the 3DS by the Japanese company, which is set to really fine-tune the whole experience for gaming on the go.

Nintendo boss Satoru Iwata has now revealed on stage at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco that Ocarina of Time 3D will be launched this June, just in time for the 25th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda series.

Iwata confirmed that franchise creator Shigeru Miyamoto is working on "a plan that will allow all Zelda lovers to celebrate together" this important event.

The Nintendo executive declined to go into details, so we'll just have to wait and see what the famous games designer has in store for the legions of Zelda fans.

A more concrete release date wasn't offered but, according to a previous statement from Nintendo of America boss Reggie Fils-Aime, don't expect Ocarina of Time 3D to appear before the E3 conference, set to be held between June 7 and 9, this year.

After that, Nintendo will also debut The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword for the Wii home console.

Until summer, though, Nintendo has published a new batch of screenshots of Ocarina of Time 3D, showcasing some of the most popular locations, including the infamous Water Temple, which should be easier to navigate this time around due to the optimization done by Nintendo to the game.
