Clarity Legal Software is a company based in Dallas, Texas that releases products designed to help legal professionals read, annotate and print official transcripts. There are two products that I will tell you about today, their names being DepoSmart and DepoSmart Transcript Viewer.

Clarity's flagship product is called DepoSmart, and is available for PowerPC and Intel-based Macs, as well as Windows PCs. Besides transcript analysis, annotation and printing, you can also connect to and import real time transcripts from a court reporter during a deposition. Case materials like exhibits, images, attachments and synchronized video is easy, while transcripts sharing with others can be done using DML files to view in Transcript Viewer, a free software from Clarity that I'll tell you about just a bit later.

The demo version of this program allows for unlimited transcripts and case creation, but printing, exporting and real time transcripts are not available. Both Mac and Windows versions are available for 595$ each, and the hardware requirements for the Mac version are as it follows: Mac OS X 10.4.1 or later running on a G4 or later CPU, 1GB of RAM and a Radeon 9200 video card or better to run graphics and video.

The DepoSmart Transcript Viewer is a free transcript viewer from Clarity Legal Software available for both Mac and Windows platforms that allows you to open the DML files that you receive from court reporters or another parties.

While you won't be able to edit the transcripts with it, the DepoSmart Transcript Viewer is able to print and search without giving you headaches, and if you need it, you can print single page and condensed transcripts, as well as word indices. Access to data is protected by Blowfish encrypted passwords, and video or linked exhibits viewing is also possible.

At last, I should tell you that, although a lighter product than DepoSmart, the Transcript Viewer has the same system requirements.
