Blood Omen 2 is a video game developed by Crystal Dynamics and published by Eidos. It is the fourth game in the Legacy of Kain series, although chronologically it is set between the events of Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain and Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver although this is disputable as time travel occurred in Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2 may have distorted the timeline and this may be the result of
that.
It was released on the PlayStation 2, Xbox, Gamecube and PC. Legacy of Kain vampires evolve over time, and the curse of vampirism manifests differently in every individual, giving them various supernatural abilities. In Blood Omen 2, these abilities are known as 'Dark Gifts'. At the start of the game Kain has only two Dark Gifts, but gains others by defeating the traitorous vampires who have sided with the Sarafan.
GAMEPLAY HINTS
Instant death attack To do an instant death attack, you must have mist in the area of the person. Enter the mist using your dark skill ability "Mist", then sneak up behind them. A skull will appear. Use this time to attack and you will cause instant death to the enemy. Note: If you run into the front of the person, they will immediately attack.
Easy health Immediately after clearing a checkpoint, if you are low on health, reload the game. You will be back exactly where you just were, except your health meter is now completely full.
Easy kill After defeating Sebastian and acquiring the Dark Gift Charm, use it on a enemy that you cannot charm. It will appear as if they have a headache. Quickly run towards the enemy and attack. Repeat this until the enemy is killed.
Wharves: Jumping to Rune Knights Around the middle of the Wharves chapter is a place where you have to constantly jump across a river with one Rune Knight in each area you jump to. Before you jump, hit the Rune Knight twice with Telekinesis. When you jump, try to make the jump indicator red so that you hit the Rune Knight. While he is on the ground, draw your weapons or get your claws out. Immediately when he stands, start attacking and catch him off guard. Two hits should be required with bare claws and only one hit with some sort of weapon.
Defeating the big mosquitoes In almost every scene, the enemies have boundaries that they cannot cross. If you find these boundaries, the mosquitoes will be waiting on the opposite side for you to cross back over. Use the jump attack by jumping over and kicking them. Then, before they recover, run back over the boundary line. After four kicks the mosquitoes will die. It is more difficult when there are two waiting for you, but can still be done.
Defeating Sarafan guards If a guard is a good distance away from you, use the Charm spell. The Charm spell will not succeed in controlling them, but it will succeed in confusing them. The guard will hold his head with both hands, as if they he has a sudden headache. During this time, dispose of the guard with any desired weapon. The easiest way is to cast Charm, walk up to them, lift them off their feet, then decapitate them with the axe sword.
Raising Kain's lore When you encounter a save point, avoid it. Instead, first kill all the enemies ahead. After your satisfied with the amount of enemies you have killed, backtrack to the save point that was skipped and hit it. The game records your current lore level at this point. Next, after the save point is hit, kill yourself. Therefore when you regenerate at the save point, you will have the same amount of lore. All the enemies that you already killed are back. Kill them again and get even more lore. The Relic Boxes also work in the same way.
Please note: Do not max out Kain's lore (blood bar roughly the same length as lore bar and lore bar full). If this is done and the game is saved, Kain's blood bar will revert to absolutely nothing. If this happens, a simple jump will cause Kain to die. If you kill all available targets (including humans) throughout the game, you will achieve the same blood bar level as you would using the trick. If you do use this trick and are nearly maxed out, stop drinking blood and opening relics. Otherwise, you will lose all your hard work when you save.
