14 DAY TRIAL // Nicolas Cage has saved the world so many times that it’s getting increasingly difficult to keep track with precision. Well, to that already impressive number, we can add another one this fall, when a new “end of the world” type of thriller / action movie opens in theaters all over the world.
It’s called “Left Behind” and the first trailer for it is available for your viewing pleasure below.
“A small group of survivors are left behind after millions of people suddenly vanish and the world is plunged into chaos and destruction,” reads a short synopsis of the film. This is about as much information as the trailer also reveals, but I assume those who read the best-selling novel on which it’s based already know what’s going on.
That novel would be “Left Behind: A Novel of the Earth’s Last Days” by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins, the first of the “Left Behind” series. Both LaHaye and Jenkins get writing credits for the scrip.
Helmed by Vic Armstrong, whose directing credits are limited to TV work until this one project, “Left Behind” takes place after the Rapture, and leaves a plane pilot (Cage) and his family struggling to cope with the reality of the fact that their world as they knew it is over.
Chad Michael Murray and Lea Thompson also star.
