Valve has released all the assets in its hit first-person shooter Left 4 Dead 2 for free for all amateur animators to use at their leisure in Source Filmmaker.

The Left 4 Dead Content Pack includes all the props, infected and survivors found in the Left 4 Dead 2 video game, which means that gamers will be able to create new stories featuring the entire cast of the title, including the four original survivors from The Passing and The Sacrifice.

Valve is also allowing the community to freely use the game's voice tracks and the tiny bits that were used to dynamically create Left 4 Dead 2's musical score.

"So now you can compose your own soundtrack out of those little snippets of oboe, banjo, saw and vocals to create something recognizably Left 4 Dead but also uniquely your own!," the development team writes in the official announcement.

The Left 4 Dead Content Pack is released in the form of a DLC pack for Source Filmmaker, and users can find it simply by accessing the Downloadable Content item in the File menu.

"Both the Source Filmmaker and Left 4 Dead communities have been asking for this for a while, so we expect great things!," the dev team concludes.
