Emma Watson is the kind of girl who doesn't need alcohol and infamous one-night stands to keep herself in the news - or to be voted Britain's greatest female role model (in a magazine poll earlier this year), ahead of much older and more experienced stars such as Keira Knightley and Kate Moss. As an aside, I have no idea why anyone would see Kate Moss as a role model, except maybe in the negative sense - with all her racy lifestyle and substance abuse - so I think it's no surprise Emma's "good girl" factor is even more attractive in this context.
What happened to the bookish, slightly nerdy image of Hermione Granger, the character Emma brings to life in the Harry Potter movies? Well, like Emma herself, it changed and shifted towards an image that's much more Emma's than some typecast young witch who learns her school textbooks by heart, has brown, bushy hair and large front teeth. And the true
Emma is a beautiful and talented teenager, who hasn't given up studying and is preparing for her A-levels, is talking driving lessons and will appear on a BBC1 new TV production called "Ballet Shoes", which premiers this Christmas.
"I could not let such an amazing project go. I loved Pauline from the start" Emma says about the character she plays in the film, Pauline Fossil, who is an orphan. "She reminds me a lot of when I was younger I was such a drama queen" she added. So, what else does Emma do these days, except the things I mentioned earlier?
Well, she goes out and parties with friends - but I'm happy to report you won't read about her exploits from the covers of any tabloids. She loves dressing up like a fifties chick (as you can see from the photos) and admits that she finds the style liberating. "I wish I could dress like this every day of my life" she confesses.
As to her fame, well, she admits it sometimes puts her in strange situations. "Recently a woman took my arm, looked at me very seriously and said, 'You're quite pretty in real life.' I didn't quite know how to take it" she says. I suspect it was in fact a compliment - and if she keeps up with her good work, I'm sure she'll be getting many more. For good reason. So I don't know what to tell you about her InStyle glamor look - which is, as you can see for yourselves, photoshopped to death. Well, I will say something - cliche as it may be, leave Hermione alone, she looks great! There you have it...
