You'll have considerably less trouble finding the exact driver or application you're looking for, even if you have to get to it manually.
Since some of the said drivers/ applications can cause unexpected errors due to the constant change in the specifications and operating systems, knowing exactly what product you own (model, generation, revision) will help you a lot.
