New iPhone OS 2.2 screens have surfaced on the web, hours after reliable sources pinned down its release for November 21 (nine days from now). The new screens depict the iTunes App Store in all its splendor, with new additions, as well as with improvements to the older features. An iPhone 2.2 feature roundup is also included in this piece.

The Boy Genius Report managed to get hold of the new screens, and analyzed them to find that users will be able to browse their apps by categories including top paid, top free, and release date. Also revealed by the leaked imagery was that each category now has an icon beside it instead of a text-only list. Lastly, you can now browse through all of the application screenshots, just like you would with iTunes on your Mac or PC.

Other new features to arrive with the new iPhone OS include a new look for Safari, with the Google search bar now occupying its own space on the title bar, an On / Off toggle to disable the auto-correction, as well as 461 Japanese emoji icons and support for more languages, all discovered in iPhone v2.2 beta 1. Those who could get their hands on the beta builds of the new OS have also confirmed that the Line-in audio is now activated and can be used through the headphone jack. New features of Maps.app include Google Street View, Google Transit information - Routes public transport, Walking directions and location sharing, most of which were spotted in the latest build of the new iPhone OS.

Besides the new findings regarding the revamped App Store, the “Categories” sector now shows the icons of the applications instead of the list, while each page of the application features a button to “Tell A Friend” or “Report a Problem.” Apple has also added the possibility of scoring the application when the user chooses to delete it from the device, as well as the possibility for direct downloading of podcasts from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store. Below are the new iPhone 2.2 screens featuring the changes occurring with the App Store.
