An image purporting to show Jonathan Ive’s iOS 7 redesign is making the rounds. People with knowledge of the software say it’s a very early alpha build, and that things have progressed a lot since the image was shot.

Reportedly leaked by Sonny Dickson to iDownloadBlog, the purported iOS 7 screen shows “Jony Ive’s touch on iOS 7 [which] will homogenize the look of Apple’s stock apps icons,” according to the report.

The folks at 9to5mac say the image is credible, suggesting that they are familiar with this build: “things have changed a lot since this was taken,” reads one of their tweets.

Pretty interesting stuff! The photo is admittedly kind of blurry but it does show “flatter” iconography (in that it has lost much of that artificial glare).

iOS 7 is scheduled to debut at the annual Worldwide Developers Conference next week.
