14 DAY TRIAL // The series of leaked builds for Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system continues with yet another appearance, Build 23502 COM5, reportedly the first of this kind to have ever leaked into the wild. The new one follows the COM4 and COM3, Build 23060 and Build 23420, respectively, and is said to come around with some rather interesting changes.
When compared to the previously spotted Windows Mobile 6.5 Build 23060, the new Windows Mobile 6.5 Build 23502 is said to be more responsive, while also proving to be more stable and much faster than both the previously leaked COM3 and COM4. The guys over at Redmondpie came up with a series of screenshots with the new build, and you can take a look at them below to make an idea of what it looks like. In the meantime, we should mention that the list of changes the new build supposedly comes with also includes: - Bottom taskbar color is changed to Vista-like dark blue. - Some GUI fixes for Volume Control. - Graphically enhanced Scrollbars and checkboxes. - Graphically enhanced buttons throughout the operating system. - New and improved Contacts app which was first seen in Build 23412 (COM3 Branch). - Kinetic flow (a la iPhone) at the start and end of any list view like in Contacts and File Explorer has been removed which is kind of a step down in my honest opinion.
The new Windows Mobile 6.5 Build 23502 seems to have a series of cooked ROMs already available for those interested to give it a try, and they were “released” for the HTC Touch HD, Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 and Samsung Omnia i900. The ROMs are available for download via various websites, yet those willing to try them out should pay a lot of attention to the installation process, so as to do everything right. The Windows Mobile 6.5.1 platform seems to be evolving nicely, and these leaked builds also offer a glimpse at what the upcoming Windows Mobile 7 might actually look like.
