Redmond-based software giant Microsoft is getting closer to releasing the much anticipated Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system, and, as the official launch date for the platform is nearing, more leaked ROMs make it into the wild. It was only a week ago that we reported about the Windows Mobile 6.5 Build 23034 that leaked on the Web, and now we learn that another interim flavor of the OS, namely Build 23037 has surfaced on the Internet and is available for download.

The new ROMs of Windows Mobile 6.5 Build 23037 that leaked, WMPoweruser reports, come from the XDA-Dev moderator l3v5y, and are available for download for some of the most popular WM-based handsets that can be found on the market at the moment. According to RedmondPie.com, the handsets that can enjoy the new Build 23037 are the HTC Touch HD, HTC Touch Pro2, HTC Touch Pro, HTC Touch Diamond2, HTC Touch Diamond, HTC Kaiser, XPERIA X1 and Samsung Omnia i900.

Some download links for the leaked Windows Mobile 6.5 Build 23037 and for the cooked ROMs for the aforementioned handsets can also be found on different websites. It seems that those willing to try them out won't have to do much to enjoy their features, as they are ready-to-install ROMs. Even so, it might not be a good idea to make the move in case you don't have some experience in the area, especially since the official Windows Mobile 6.5 should become available on the market in the near future.

For what it's worth, the features that the upcoming mobile operating system from Microsoft is set to deliver are something that should attract a lot of users. We already presented some of them in the past, and most of you should know that the platform comes as a great step forward compared to the older Windows Mobile 6.1 variant. Even so, WM 6.5 might only mark the transition to the next-generation WM 7, due out next year, as most of the reports point towards this flavor of Microsoft's OS as the big step that it will take on its way towards becoming more competitive and attractive.
