Windows 8.1 Update 1 is clearly going one step forward in Microsoft’s reconciliation with desktop users, so the update packs a lot of improvements in this regard, including options to pin Metro apps to the taskbar.

But McAkins Online has come across a new change that paves the way for a complete mix of the Modern UI and the desktop that’s supposed to take place in Windows 9: Metro apps now have jumplists when pinned to the taskbar, letting you quickly access recent documents with ease.

The jumplist can easily be open by simply right-clicking on the Modern app icon pinned to the taskbar, in the same way you do when accessing recent documents of a word processor whose icon is also placed on the taskbar.

Windows 8.1 Update 1 is expected to debut in April as part of Microsoft’s Patch Tuesday rollout and will be offered free of charge to all those already running Windows 8.1.
