Windows 10 build 10125 got leaked yesterday, and even though Microsoft doesn't recommend anyone to install leaked versions of the operating system, many people have rushed to do just that so they can finally have a closer look at the future of Windows.

One of the untold features of Windows 10 build 10125 is a new Network Beta app that's included in the operating system and that can be found in the Start menu.

At this point, the app doesn't work, and when launched, you get a “Coming soon” message, which is a clear sign that Microsoft will unlock it in the next versions of the Windows 10 preview.

The purpose of this app is not known yet, but it's extremely easy to speculate, especially because it has a really intuitive name, and Microsoft might be looking to revamp the network manager of Windows 10 as well.

Easy access to VPN?

The network applet has indeed been redesigned in Windows 10, but several clicks are still needed for certain tasks, such as connecting to a VPN.

Right now, if you want to connect to your company's VPN, you need to click the Network icon in the System Tray, click the name of the VPN displayed in the opening pop-up, click on “Network” in the Settings screen that has just launched, and then hit the connect button for the chosen VPN.

With this Network app, Microsoft might finally offer a single interface for managing all settings for your networks, but it remains to be seen if this app will be unlocked before RTM or not.

We’ve heard that Microsoft might keep some features for RTM and avoid rolling them out to insiders, but since the Network app has already made its appearance in this preview, we expect the company to ship it in a future preview build in order to collect feedback and improve it before the final version of the OS.
