Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion is reportedly gearing up for the launch of a new flavor of its popular BlackBerry Messenger, and some leaked screenshots with it have just emerged into the wild providing info on what the company might pack the application with. We already knew that the handset vendor was working on the delivery of a new BBM flavor, along with the brand new
BlackBerry OS 6.1, but nothing was unveiled on the matter until now.
Apparently, the company might be set to launch the new application flavor as soon as next month, during the BlackBerry World, just as it would do with the new BlackBerry OS.
Courtesy of a series of leaked screenshots with the application, available
via blackberrybase (and
CrackBerry), we can also make an idea on what would RIM pack the software with.
For example, the available images show that RIM would put the BlackBerry OS 6.1 icons inside Blackberry Messenger 6.0 too, which sounds quite appealing.
According to some,
the application indeed needed some graphical changes, and the new flavor that RIM has is store for its users might bring them into the mix.
In addition to the said new icons, the upcoming BlackBerry Messenger 6.0 is expected to offer users the possibility to easily change colors for contacts and chats.
Unfortunately, other details on the new application are not available for the time being, and there's no telling on what changes it might include under the hood.
However, more should become available in the near future, and users should wait patiently for RIM to make a formal announcement on this, and to officially launch the application, so as to learn additional details on it.
All in all, it appears that May is shaping up as a great month for RIM, as the company is expected to launch not only a new OS and new application flavors for its users, but also some new mobile phones, including the already leaked
BlackBerry Bold Touch, Torch 2, or the BlackBerry Touch (
Monaco/Monza).
