As I reported yesterday, a number of Microsoft partners has received Windows 8.1 build 9477, a brand new version that’s very close to RTM, according to reports.

Today, a new screenshot showing the desktop confirms that such a build is indeed under heavy testing right now, but again, no details have been provided.

There are no visible changes in this screenshot and as you can see, the Start button is still there, but there’s no word on updated features or any other options that might have been introduced.

As far as RTM is concerned, Microsoft is expected to send Windows 8.1 to OEMs as soon as this month, while general availability is prepared for October. Microsoft has already announced that Windows 8.1 is set to go live on October 18, so more information will be provided soon.
