Microsoft working to add dark theme in the new OS

A screenshot that got leaked today reveals what seems to be the new dark theme of Windows 10 for PCs in action, even though there are absolutely no other details as to when this could become available to insiders or whether Microsoft plans to offer it in the final version of the OS.

This isn’t the first time we’re hearing that a dark theme is coming to Windows 10, and although Microsoft itself remained tight-lipped most of the time, it appears that work on this particular feature advances.

A screenshot posted by Chinese website ITHome reveals said dark theme up and running on the desktop, making the notification center that debuts in Windows 10 completely black.

Right now, this dark theme doesn’t seem to look too good, although some users might find the black taskbar more eye-candy, but since this is just an early version of the final UI, expect more changes to be made in the coming builds.

More customization options coming

One of the features that Microsoft is trying to change in Windows 10 is the customization level offered to users, as feedback coming since the launch of the Windows Insider program calls for the company to give its customers more options to choose what they need, how they need.

As a result, Redmond is trying to let users choose and the addition of a dark theme is living proof of that. Of course, the standard theme of Windows will remain default in the upcoming OS, but those who’d like to switch to a dark theme will be able to do that from settings.

This is the only screenshot that we have right now, but with so many leaks happening lately, expect more to surface in the coming weeks, as work on Windows 10 advances at a very fast pace.
