Looking surprisingly similar to the W580i

Only a few days have gone by since the first rumors regarding Sony Ericsson's W999i phone surfaced, and already 'leaked' photos of the phone have become available.

The photos featuring the handset were recently posted on several forums, and followed only by several more speculations regarding its possible features.

Although nothing points to Sony Ericsson actually working on the W999i, rumors can be enough reason to expect such a phone to be released. But chances of the handset looking like the one in the photo are very slim. Actually, although there's no way to tell for sure, from my own point of view, this is yet another Photoshop creation.

Let me explain why. The design of the phone is identical to the one of the recently released W580i except for a few details like the color, and the fact that the keypad it includes looks exactly like the M600's semi-QWERTY keyboard.

Now, Sony Ericsson has never used the same design in two different phones. Just to prove my point, I am going to add a photo of the 'W999i' as well as one with the W580i so that each one of you can easily compare the two phones' design and draw your own conclusion.

Leaving the photos aside, the W999i, if there's to be one, is said to come with HSDPA support, 2.4 inch 262k color screen with a QVGA resolution, and a 2 megapixel camera with autofocus. Like any phone that is a part of the Walkman family (as the W-series suggests) it will also include a media player, FM Radio and memory card slot providing more storage space for music. With so many phones that Sony Ericsson is rumored to be preparing, an official announcement should follow shortly, revealing many more details.
