BlackBerry users out there would certainly rejoice learning that new version of the BlackBerry OS emerged for some of their handsets, including the Storm2, Bold 9700 and Torch 9800. However, while the Torch got a new taste of BlackBerry OS 6, the Storm2 and Bold 9700 have only seen new BlackBerry OS 5 flavors available for them.

We should note right from the start that two of these software solutions are not official updates for the handsets, including the one for Storm and the OS update for Torch.

They are in fact leaked OS upgrades, and BlackBerry owners should think twice before installing them on their devices, as they would void the warranty and might harm the handset in case the installation process goes wrong.

However, if one would still want to go forth with the installation of a leaked OS update, one should backup all data on the device first, to make sure that no important files are lost during the installation process.

The BlackBerry Storm2 9550 has just got a leaked OS 5.0.0.1015 available for it, a recent article on IntoMobile states.

Unfortunately, Storm 2 users won't be able to enjoy the benefits of BlackBerry 6 OS just yet, but chances are that it won't be too long before the new platform version comes to their devices too.

As for the other OS 5 release, the BlackBerry OS 5.0.0.979, it is the official update for Bold 9700 owners on AT&T's network. No OS 6 here either, but it might not be too long before the move is made, especially since such an update already leaked for the 9700.

As for Torch 9800, it just got a new leaked OS 6 version, following a series of other similar solutions spotted not too long ago into the wild.

According to CrackBerry, the newly leaked solution is OS 6.0.0.337 for the BlackBerry Torch 9800, the same OS number that leaked not too long ago for other BlackBerry devices.
