"Unconfirmed" information has emerged from "a major software publisher" as far as the new iPhone's specs are concerned. The image that came along with the specs might not be a "spy shot," but the specs themselves are allegedly real. While 3G and GPS are just your usual iPhone 2.0 specs now, the new model is said to be 22 percent thinner than the currently available one, but also to sport a longer-lasting battery.

The usual 3G and GPS support is included in the list of specs for the iPhone 2, as leaked by a "programmer at a major software publisher," Cult of Mac is reporting. Even the 16GB or 32GB storage options are in place. Additionally, however, the list says that the new iPhone, due for unveiling at WWDC '08 (as it is widely believed) will be 22 percent thinner and have better battery life.

According to the aforementioned source, "the iPhone 2 will have" 3G support, GPS, 2 x memory (16GB and 32GB), a 22 percent thinner body, and better battery life. The tipster also claims Apple will subsidize the iPhone?s price to better compete with RIM?s BlackBerry.

Over the weekend, Macrumors also posted rumored specs, as well as possible prices for the new device, based on claims from their own sources. One of these claims was that the new model would be priced as low as $200, sporting lower-end features.

Other "unconfirmed whispers" coming from sources of the same publication say that, besides 3G support, the following features/specs were also passed along: Lighter weight, Black + other colors; Focus on Multimedia with Video recording; Video Conferencing; GPS; 16GB $499; 32GB $699.

As you can see, most specs are consistent with circulating rumors so, by all means, dare to dream that all of them will be available with the new device.
