A leaked document from Japan’s KDDI (a wireless operator) claims that the iPhone 5S will go on sale in July. Which means Apple could unveil the handset at its Worldwide Developers Conference in June.

The document claims Apple will make the phone available to retailers on June 20, at which point pre-orders will also be initiated. This would suggest Apple has plans to unveil the handset at WWDC 2013, on June 10.

Nowhereelse.fr, the site which obtained the document, adds (via Google Translate), “We learn in passing that the iPhone 5S that would turn iOS 7 and embark a NPC 13Mpx against 8MP iPhone 5.”

While the technicalities are most likely correct, the June announcement is unlikely.

Apple’s CEO specifically told investors to keep an eye out for new product announcements this fall. While iOS and OS X are themselves two major Apple products, Tim Cook’s statement was undoubtedly in regards to hardware products.

But that’s not to say Apple doesn’t have new hardware planned for summer and fall.
