Intel chipset, 4 GB of RAM and much more

Back in April 2008, Michael Dell held a speech at the Fortunate Green conferences. Dell's CEO took this as an opportunity to show off one of the company's most interesting product concepts. Unfortunately, the product has not gotten the official treatment, as far as technical specs or name go. But Michael Dell did state out that the new system is expected to hit the store shelves later this year and would have a price range between $500 and $700.

The interesting aspect of Dell's small desktop concept was the fact that it featured a bamboo casing. Because of it, the small desktop computer system could fit nicely into any home furniture arrangement. On top of that, the system was claimed to be 81 percent smaller than a standard desktop system and use 70 percent less power. Also, it is supposed to be built using recycled materials like old bottles, milk jugs and detergent cases.

Apparently, this small desktop system has been spotted once more, but this time with no bamboo chassis, just an orange Plexiglas shell. Unlike the first time, the system was showcased, more details are now available, including name and technical sheet. Simply dubbed Studio Hybrid, this small desktop computer boasts an Intel chipset, 4GB of RAM and no less than 320GB of storage space. The system is also said to feature WiFi, a DVD+R drive, five USB ports, an HDMI port, S/PDIF, DVI, and a memory card reader.

Because of its estimated price tag and overall specifications, the system is clearly not meant to be a competitor of ASUS' Eee Box and MSI's Wind PC. But considering its small size factor and performance capability, Dell's new product should stir some buzz, when released.
