DROID Incredible by HTC is undoubtedly one of the hottest smartphones Taiwan-based leading handset vendor HTC Corporation brought to the market during the ongoing year. Running under Google's Android 2.1 operating system, the device has been put on sale in the United States via Verizon Wireless, and should receive an update to the Android 2.2 Froyo operating system in the near future. The carrier did not announce something official on the said update, but a leaked version of that solution has just emerged into the wild, bringing along HTC's Sense user interface.

The leaked software is said to be nothing more than a Stock Android 2.2 ROM with Sense, which is based on the upcoming Froyo update for the DROID Incredible. The solution also includes su, Superuser.apk and busybox, and is said to have all features of the device up and running, including camera, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, and the rest. However, a recent post on XDA-Developers forum notes that only handsets with 2.x radios would fully support the ROM, and that those interested in installing the solution would have to wipe the handset clean.

It seems that the leaked Froyo ROM for the Incredible would also offer some welcomed additions to those who will install it, such as 720p recording, flash on camcorder, HTC Flashlight, 3G mobile hotspot, FM Radio widget, Gmail with Copy & Paste, and a nice range of other widgets. In case the 2.x radio is not there, certain features of the device won't work, including the camcorder.

In order to check the radio on the device, users would have to go to Settings > About phone > Software information > Baseband version. The ROM would work with radio version 2.05.00.06.11. In case there are some with the radio version 1.00.03.04.06, they would have to update the radio. The leaked ROM is available both for rooted and non rooted devices, the aforementioned forum post continues. Specific information on the installation process for both rooted and non rooted DROID Incredible devices can be found there.
